In the 1970s, my family's penchant for camping had us buying property at Land Harbors of America, a permanent-living campground in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. Each lot came with a deck you could build to suit, add to or landscape. We spent many weekends up there living out of our Airstream trailer (that's me sitting on the steps.)
