The
John T. Nash Family Cemetery
in Bluestone Valley

The headstone of John Thomas Nash (1833-1902) of Bluestone Valley. In the picture are George Rhea Nash (1899-1991), his son Alvin Cecil Nash (1933-) and Alvin's daughter Kristin (1966-). That would be me!

The last time we ventured to the Nash family cemetery was in 1994, on a trek to the old homestead during a family reunion. The field between the road and the cemetery was completely grown over, as was the cemetery. If you see a speck of red in the picture above, that's cousin Pete, who wanted to see what kind of shape the cemetery was in.

A headstone with a view! This is what the headstone of Andrew Jackson Nash (1853-1932) and his wife Naomi John Summers (1856-1941) is supposed to look like if the field and grounds were kept mowed. Nashes don't own the land anymore so we really don't have any say-so as to its upkeep.

Grave markers of Andrew Jackson Nash (1853-1932) and his wife Naomi John Summers (1856-1941). No one seems to know which came first, the markers or the headstone.

The curved headstone on the left is that of John Thomas Nash (1833-1902), the first of our line to live on this land and be buried here. Look at the wear on this headstone from the top picture.
